Spring Rain
Wow! There's nothing like a run in the rain on a warm spring evening. 4 miles and I felt damn good afterwards. I'm really looking forward to my 15 mile run this weekend. Not sure I'll feel the same way AFTER that run, but we'll see.
Skipped another run
This is not good. As I said I would, I went for my run on Tuesday as planned. I also took the dog with me cause she needs to start getting in shape for the summer, even if she doesn't agree with me. I ended up dragging her about half the way because she seemed to be tired. I'm sure it'll get better for her as we go along.
Anyways, the run was tough, and it was only 3 miles. I assume this is because it had been so long since my previous run. That and the fact that I was dragging Ellie along with me. After the run, I felt like crap! I thought maybe starting to exercise again would help me get rid of this cold that is lingering, but boy was I wrong!

Ellie is a star!
Ellie has made it to the big time these days - bright lights, big city here she comes! She is featured as Blueheron Golden Retrievers cover dog for their website for April. And I must say...she looks pretty damn good! :)

A bad week
Well another week has gone by and I didn't do ANY running. By Monday evening of last week I was stuck in bed, hoping I would be feeling better soon. Tuesday was worse. I spent the entire day in bed, trying to get as much rest as possible because I knew, feeling better or not, that I would have to go back to work the next day.
The day in bed did me a world of good, it got me to the point of actually being able to function, but since then I haven't been able to just get better. My head is still stuffed up and my energy is low. My appetite has diminished quite a bit too. I haven't been running since a week before this past Saturday. Not good. The extra week that I had in my training schedule has now disappeared.

Marathon training - week 9
Another week of training over. This is the schedule I was supposed to follow:
Tues - 3 miles, Wed - 7 miles, Thurs - 4 miles, Saturday - 10 miles
And here is what I actually did:
Tues - a little more than 3 miles, Saturday - around 10 miles
This was the first week that I did any running outside. My first run outside was on Tuesday and I was supposed to do 3 miles. I haden't bother to measure out a 3 mile course beforehand so I decided to just run by time. In the past, inside, a 3 mile run would normally take me around 26 and a half mintues so I ran for nearly 26 minutes. After the run I went and drove the course I ran and it turned out to be 5.1 kms (which is just over 3 miles) so I was happy with that.
Staying current
I booked a plane for this past Saturday because it was coming up on 30 days since my last flight and the club has a 30 day currency policy for pilots with less than 100 hours of flight time. Once I reach 100 hours, the requirement drops to 60 days.
I asked Trev if he and Julie wanted to go flying with me since I haden't taken either of them up yet. He wasn't sure if they already had plans but said he'd get back to me. In the end only Trev came up because Jules had to stay home to look after Lotus (a dog) who ended up staying with them this weekend.
I had booked COH for the flight but when I got there I was told that COH was offline and that I'd be taking PMR instead. I was a little disappointed since COH has the bigger engine but oh well.

The ConvertX has landed
I got home from work on Wednesday hoping to find a box sitting in the entryway waiting for me. I also expected to find a somewhat pissed off Amy (for being woken up by the shipping company - she's working nights this week) waiting for me but alas, I found neither. (Not finding a pissed off Amy was a good thing)
Turns out they (Purolator) had stopped by at 1130 but had somehow managed to not wake Amy up. This makes me wonder whether or not they actually rang the doorbell, but then why wouldn't they have rung the doorbell? Anyways, they left a note saying that the package could be picked up after 1800 that day.

First outside run of the year
The weather was nice yesterday so I decided that I'd do my first outdoor run since I started training. I'm not sure if I was running faster or not, but I'll say that running outside seems to be significantly more tiring that running on a treadmill. I've yet to actually measure the distance that I ran, but I figure it must be close to the 3 miles that I was supposed to do. I'll drive the route today to see just how far I went.
In other news, my long run last Saturday was 13 miles! Basically a half marathon distance. I completed the run in 2 hours, 6 minutes and 10 seconds. Once again it was the single toughest workout I've ever done.

Time to upgrade Drupal
I'm thinking it's time for me to upgrade my Drupal installation for this site to the latest and greatest. My only concern is being able to actually do an 'upgrade'. I've think I tried it before without any success so I'm a little hesitant, but I would like to get up to date, if for no other reason that to get some of the new themes. :)
Anyways, I likely wont do anything until this weekend but stay tuned for a new 'look and feel' which will be coming soon.
New Laser Printer
I went into Staples on Sunday, in search of an ink cartridge for my Epson ink jet printer. My plan was to only buy the black ink this time and forget about the colour cartridge. We were going to try printing out the wedding invites with the Epson and see how good a job it did.
While I was there, I figured I'd take a look at the laser printers that they had in stock, just for interests sake. I had spent some time on Friday searching the internet for deals so...
They had a Brother printer (can't remember the model number but I think it was the HL-2040) on sale for $129.99. Actually it was $209 I think with a $30 instant rebate plus a $50 mail in rebate which brought it down to the $130 mark. I figured the ink for the ink jet was going to cost me at least $50 so I decided it was time to upgrade my printer.
