August 29th

It's DEFINITELY a boy!

When we went in for an ultrasound at week 20 the technician was quite convinced that we were having a boy. Nevertheless, there was still a bit of doubt in the back of our minds. Couple that with Amy's father continually asking how his 'granddaughter' was and well...things didn't seem quite as certain.

Well yesterday we put the doubt behind us. Amy had to go in for another ultrasound since her doctor was a bit concerned that the baby was growing too large. That news didn't exactly fill Amy with joy, but now that the ultrasound has come and gone, she is resting a bit easier - more on that later. Anyways, back to the whole 'is it a boy' question... During the ultrasound, the technician pointed out to us what were clearly testicles - so there you have it, it is settled! The Haggerty's are having a boy. Sorry John (Hunter) - no girly sperm here. ;)

2nd Annual "Mad River Float"

2nd Annual Mad River Float

Last weekend (the 12th of August) was the date Jim (and Allie I'm sure) chose for the second annual "Mad River Float". Once again, Ellie and I took part in the event. This year, I think I counted about 25 people (and two dogs) who took part. As you can see from the picture on the left, I brought along my GPS receiver with me to track our progress. According to the data I collected, we (or at least I) travelled 3.52 km in 2 hours and 46 minutes, giving us an average speed of around 1.3 km/h. Not tremendously fast - that is for sure.

What's been up?

It's been a while since I've managed to write down any thoughts here on my blog. Not too much new going on these days - seems like the same old stuff - ultimate, biking, reading, etc. Well actually, that's not quite true - just this past weekend we took a trip down to Brockville to attend Christine Mason's baptism. Trev and Julie had asked Amy and I if we would be Christine's Godparents and naturally we said yes.
