iPhone in Canada soon
Dave just sent me a link to this article which states that Rogers has reached a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to Canada later this year.
“We're thrilled to announce that we have a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to Canada later this year,” Rogers chief executive officer Ted Rogers said on Tuesday in a statement. “We can't tell you any more about it right now, but stay tuned.”
I'm assuming they'll hold off until June so they can offer the new 3G iPhone. Man - I can't wait!
Update: Is this the plan that will go with the iPhone? Seems too cheap to me...

Spontaneity seems to be the best policy
We randomly met up with the Keans this evening and they invited us over for dinner. Well far be it from us to refuse a free meal so we headed out to Richmond to enjoy the company of some great friends. In addition to a great meal (I expect nothing less from fantastic hosts like the Keans) we also enjoyed a great night. I'm not trying to suggest that this is out of the ordinary or anything, but it seems to me that you always have the best time when things just happen out of the blue. I guess it makes sense when you think about it...when something is planned in advance, there is time to build it up and therefore it has much more of a possibility of falling short of expectations, whereas if something just happens spontaneously there are no expectations so... Anyways, good times were had. I got to try some new wines that Dana had brought back from Niagra and also some tasty jam - it was fruity and spicy! Liam actually went to sleep at the Keans place for a change (I'm told this is a first for him and with my memory being so bad, I'll have to take their word for it) so it made for a much more pleasant night. Unfortunately MTL lost their game, but you can't win them all right? :) Thanks to the Keans for a great night! Looking forward to the next spontaneous evening...

Flickr gets video!
Well I've been waiting for this for a long time, but Flickr has finally introduced video! Now I just need to sort through all my old videos and maybe clean up a few and start uploading!
Here's a sample of things to come. :)
How awesome is this?!

New MacBook
The MacBook I ordered last Friday arrived here on Wednesday. Unfortunately I had to make a special trip out to the Fedex depot out near the airport to pick it up, but that's what I get for sending it to my house instead of work I guess. Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised at how quick it got here. Like I said, ordered it on Friday and I had it by Wednesday evening, and it would have been Wednesday morning if I had been home. Free shipping too - so that's damn good if you ask me.
After doing some initial setup on Wednesday night, I brought it to work with me on Thursday to see if I'd like using it at work instead of my work laptop. I think I do prefer it, but after thinking about it some more, I decided that it doesn't make sense to 'put the miles' on my personal laptop when I've already got one at work. It'll be less wear and tear on it by not carting it back and forth to work everyday - especially since I haven't got a bag for it yet. And on the plus side, I'm going to stop hauling my work machine back and forth and just leave it at work since I've now got access to a laptop at home.
First impressions are good, although I've been using a mac since Boris converted me back in 2004, so I kind of knew what to expect. The only issue I've had with it is that it doesn't seem to like to stay connected to my wireless access point. Very sporadically it will just drop the connection and I have to manually re-establish the link. Kind of annoying. I wasn't sure if it was a problem with the MacBook or the access point, but after doing a quick google search, it looks like it's more than likely the MacBook that is the culprit. Too bad. That being said, I've been connected continuously (and streaming music to remote speakers) now for probably a couple of hours so it's not that big a problem.
It's nice and small and quite light - of course not as light as a MacBook Air - but then again, it's more functional, if you ask me. This thing will be perfect for taking on trips for blogging on the go and storing photos, playing music, movies, etc...just what I was looking for really.

Didn't I order a cat??
Ding dong. The doorbell rang and Mr. Renengard opened the door. "Hello, I've got a package for you," the delivery man said to Mr. Renengard. "Just sign here and it's yours." "OK," Mr. Renengard replied. "Thank you, bye." "By the way, where is the package?" shouted Mr. Renengard. "In the garage," the delivery man shouted back. "Thanks again." "No problem."
